 Polyester
construction
This is my main form of construction. I use the traditional polyester
resin/polyurethane foam blank method, especially for shortboards
and mini-mals. Its a much less labour intensive building method
than epoxy and a strong option for the budget minded surfer. We
are presently using Bennet and Farrelly blanks.
Epoxy veneer construction
Most
popular in mals and fun guns, the epoxy veneer sandwich construction
looks great and has real advantages for performance and durability.
Instead of the conventional shaped blank weighing 4.5kg (for a
9 ft mal), the styrene blank weighs just 800 grams. Therefore
most of the weight of the board is in the heavier sandwhich laminate
- where it should be for strength and durability.
As a consequence these boards don't dent and ding as frequently
and the breakage rate is low. The redistribution of weight also
produces a lighter, more responsive feel on the wave.
Key developments during five years of research has been carefully
matching stringer size to the waves each board is likely to face,
and moving the heaviest glass cloth to the inside of the Kauri veneer.
All fin boxes are mounted into a high density foam insert.
Fin Systems
 In
conjunction with Primal Surfboards we have developed our own fin
system which we install on all boards.
The XM finbox unit goes right through
to the deck where the moulded polycarbonate fin is held by a bolt
which is tighted using a screw driver. 
It's a very strong, simple to use system that allows surfers to
change their fin set-ups easily.
